Razer Hammer Head (V2)
What feels like some ordinary earphones packs a lot of punch inside. Not expecting anything less from Razer i got my hands on the Hammer Head and in this post ill present you with it's pros and cons and in the end provide you with a objective conclusion so you'll be the judge on whether to consider it or not.
Design
The design itself looks very well-done, something Razer always prevails in. What seems a little odd is the double earphoned (thats not a word) better known as the biflanges, if that makes any sense. The earphones are machined with aluminium on one side and have a little rubber added to the end of the wire attached with the earphones
to protect the flat-sized cable from breaking if bent forcefully. The bright green cable though looks very attractive and compliments the whole thing very well but it does feel a little cheap and easy to tear. Although it's not like it's fragile but just don't leave them lying around for long if you have cats in your house but i believe that this is where Razer had to make some adjustments to it's budget and keep it's price at a reasonable rate.
Build Quality
The earphones are very lightweight and as mentioned earlier are made with aircraft grade aluminium which reinforces the lightweight fact, but aren't earphones usually light? I mean i've never heard of bulky earphones so it doesn't much of a big deal here except the fact that they look cool. There is a minute feature that's really thoughtful by Razer, they made small dot behind the right earphone (beneath the R inscription) so the person can trace his finger over it and realize that it is the right one. This is very helpful for those low light or absolutely no light areas and find out which earphone is for which one. The only problem i faced was that the left earphones kept slipping out of my ear but i believe it would be different for everyone. They may or may not encounter this problem.
Sound Quality
The sound is pretty impressive actually with those extra large 10mm drivers. The highs and lows are alright and the bass is quite noticeable. The noise cancelling feature is pretty impressive and feels nice to not increase the volume to max to cancel out any sound from the outside
Is it Comfortable?
Usually, prolonged use of earphones stuck in my ear canals irritate me but these, i put on for 2 hours and were very comfortable mainly due to the different sizes of ear bud things you can attach (that come with it) according to the size of your ear canals. So it can be very variable to suit yourself. In terms of versatility these have a 3.5 mm audio jack and in the pro version which only has the addition of a microphone, in-line remote and a splitter to connect to PC.
Pricing Tag
Razer Hammerhead (v2) : $50
Razer Hammerhead pro (v2) : $70
What's Inside?
Well i can assure you the casing is really nice and compact. It has a hard top so don't worry about all the things getting squished.
Conclusion
Well to top it all of the $50 one seems much more reasonable when you realize that you are gonna pay $20 more just for the mic some buttons and a splitter cable. It's a great marketing tactic though, tricking the people into buying the mic option but i feel like i'd rather stay with the non-pro version as earphones are mostly for phones and such and phones have their own mic so won't really help unless you are on a PC. Otherwise the earphones are great for listening to music, podcasts or T.v shows and i certainly recommend it and comparatively in this price range they are the best.
But What About Pakistan?
Due to a huge amount of tax you have to pay for these, i do not recommend buying from here as the amount you would pay would have a greater amount of money taken for taxes than the earphones itself. Over here you will see these from 9k-11k and you could get a decent headset with that.( These prices are subject to change over the course of time)
